David Alan GrierBio: Theater, television and film have filled the resume of David Alan Grier's career to date. His ability to excel in all three mediums is a testament to how well-rounded Grier has become as an actor. Trained in Shakespeare at Yale where he received an MFA from the Yale School of Drama, the multi-talented Grier has also been praised as one of Comedy Central's "100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time". His television work is highlighted by his role as principal cast member on the Emmy Award winning In Living Color (1990–1994). He also appeared in DAG (2000–2001) and Life with Bonnie (2003) which earned an Image and Golden Satellite nomination. Recently, Grier has appeared as a contestant on ABC's smash hit Dancing with the Stars (2009) but didn't hang up his dance shoes just then, as he later appeared in the Wayans Brothers' 2009 spoof movie Dance Flick. Grier has found a new interest outside of Hollywood though, as he has recently taken up poker as his newest venture. Grier's passion for poker began by playing in several charity tournaments and in 2010 he participated in both the WSOP Ante Up for Africa and WSOP Main Event representing Full Tilt Poker. As he has shown in the past, he is capable of succeeding at whatever he is involved with, and the top pros on the poker circuit should not mistake the humor that has made him famous for weakness at the table. |
